Why I cant Set Price For My Uploaded Product ?
-
vwebtech Mar 17, 2018Why the price is auto by the codester.
Seller must have rights to set the price for their product.
Kindly let me know is this possible to set price , or i can leave. -
You can set the price when you upload your item.
If you won't set the price we will choose a price which we think will help you maximize revenue.
If you want to change the price, just leave a ticket in our help center.

Richie Apr 1, 2018I'm curious to know why a price change needs to be moderated ?

It's to protect both buyer and seller.
There are always people that will try to sell items for extreme high prices for example a HTML template for $1000. If somebody would buy such an item it would be because that person is not aware of the pricing of HTML templates. We want buyers to get good value for their money and not feel scammed after they find out they can buy a nearly identical item for $10.
On the other side there are always developers who try to sell their work and do not succeed to get any sales. This can be for various reasons, but our experience is that first thing developers will do is lowering their price until it's nearly free and somebody will finally buy. The result is that other developers are also forced to lower their prices to be competitive. The results is a race to the bottom and this has a very self-destructive effect.
We want to have developers compete on quality and not on price. We allow developers to set their own price, which is 95% of the time no problem. So their is still some pricing competition but not in a harmful way. -
Richie Apr 4, 2018Hi Frederick,
You've got some fair points there. I can see you logic behind it. However, I still think there should be an editable option while editing an item to change the sale price of an item. To keep in mind with what you've just said, changing the price should also place the item back into an item review status, from here an admin can then review the change and address the request accordingly.
I think the owner of the product should always be allowed to change every aspect of their product at all times no matter how ridiculous they decide to price there item. But by allowing these changes, the item should indeed go back into review.
Maybe when allowing someone to edit the price of an item, add another field to explain why the feel a price change is required. This would help an admins decision when reviewing the item change.

I agree, having a form instead of manual request through support is a good idea.
I don't think the author should be allowed to set any ridiculous price without moderation. It can damage trust for buyers and business for sellers. An author still has the freedom to directly stop selling an item if they don't agree with the pricing. Codester lets authors price as free as possible. We only step in when a pricing does some kind of damage. Like already mentioned +95% of the time the author suggested pricing is no problem.
Also allowing an explain/comment field for any price change would be a good idea.
Thanks for the feedback! This post has been last edited at 2018-04-04 17:44:52 -

Alexander8585 Dec 12, 2020Hello,
why my product price is 0.
when I upload the item I set the price '15' but in items page I see 0 for price. Why?"my product now is pending" -
MoneyMaker Dec 12, 2020Hello Alexender, is your item Soft Reject? If yes then i also see price is automatically to $0 when you update for review but if no soft reject then i don't know why it's happening.
