Fed up with the quality on Codester
-
moohook Oct 6, 2019Some of the scripts look really good and work really good but I'm fed up of viewing a demo of a product and it works perfectly then purchase / download nothing works for example, I purchased Smart Forum last night and if you take a look: https://benjiyz.com - try "forgot password" or even try creating an account IT DOESN'T WORK and when I email the dev he says give him CPanel access and he'll install it for me when all you need to do to install this script is upload contents to public_html and input MySQL how easy can it get?
Moral of the story is Codester should focus more on checking quality content and actually reject bad items or devs with bad rep.
I'm sick of having to contact the dev to install. What about the future moving the script from one web server to another. This was the same with xjhulian -
Thank you for your feedback.
We review all scripts that are being submitted and if an item is low quality it will be removed. We can't review every feature of a script, although we come a long way.
That said, we are constantly upping the quality on Codester as buyers are expecting the best.
Scripts in general often require certain configuration to get them working properly. Like your example with the SMTP server. We can understand it is frustrating when you can't get an item to work. And just a one different configuration setting in the script or on the server can cause the script not to work at all.
This can feel like searching for a needle in a haystack. Authors should give support for their products because of this and when reported we take action against bad support.
Please do keep in mind what you paying for, the average price of a script is only $30. From what I understand is that you are even getting developers to actually also install the script for free for you most of the time.
We are looking to offer paid installation services and migration services, so there is more certainty that buyers can get the script working and have something to fall back on.

moohook Oct 8, 2019No, I'm installing the scripts myself. They offer to install straight away without even querying the issue I've contacted them about. That's what I'm saying
