Leaked Product

Hello,

today i seen one of my product has been leaked on a website and i would like to know what can i do to removing this leaks.

I already send a message to forum owner (of the website), but nothing response.

I think that can be usefull to add a licence system on Codester, because if my product has been leaked, what is the real number of product leaked available on codester ?

We are seller, we work for making good products to won money (and maybe lived with there).

That's is a very big problem for Codester, because, contrary to some others Website like Envato or themeforest, Codester don't have any licence system or something that we can use to very real buyers or leechers.

Is that why i don't want, for this time, publish my new products on Codester. Too many people leaked products..

I am sorry to hear about your illegally distributed product. It can be a pain to get it removed! You can sent a DMCA takedown request and if this does not help, contact their hosting provider.

Just be clear Envato or any other marketplace products also can't be protected with encrypted code, license system etc.

Currently nearly the only illegally distributed items on Codester are "free files of the week". From the many thousands of sales, we only have a handful of cases of illegally distributed items.

The main point is that we want to keep seller full open source products with all the freedom to edit that comes with it and we don't want to jeopardize this. We have experimented with allowing encrypted code, this has resulted in a lot of problems. To start with we can't check this code on malicious code and a lot of buyers are angry when they found out not all code is editable.

But another system that can "work", is a LICENCE.md file, include a licence number, the buyers names or something like that..

All sellers need to know a list of buyers (with username and date of bought), with that, we can easily know who is the leechers..

Without that, how do you want us to continue posting scripts and such on Codester? This makes us lose, little by little, the motivation to propose contents on your site, and thus, makes Codester slow down.

Such license is already present, it listed in the downloads area.
Anybody who wants to share a file, would delete it from the zip file.

Yes, scripts are very sensitive for copyright fraud. On the other side among the people who have actually purchased an item, the chance is very small that he/she will illegally spread it.
It is mostly the idea of somebody stealing the code that is the worst. Which is very understandable! The financial downside on the other hand is nearly non-existant at the moment.

And another idea is of only encrypting the license part , else other part will be editable but the license check system will be encrypted , this is better than giving whole source with the risk of leaking
