What features would sellers like to see?

chattymango Dec 18, 2017I personally don't mind the emails. For me it's more convenient than logging in and checking on the website. I think that hardly anything happens during that time while I'm staring at my author dashboard.
Not a priority feature request, but I would find it handy to see the charts (visitors, sales) also over longer periods, like 1 year or all time. Also, since we started talking about styling, I noticed that the menu on the items' descriptions "Overview, Reviews, Support, FAQ" starts overlapping on smaller screens, and the buttons "Live Demo", ... (incl. "Facebook" at the bottom) could use some more margin. (Distance between buttons is also a Google criteria for mobile usability.) -
Crevasse Dec 18, 2017Actually, I was thinking of push notifications, like Shopify.

Scriptbucks Dec 19, 2017I also have another request, the option to delete old item support questions..

ChewiScripts Dec 24, 2017Would it be possible to comment on reviews like on Codecanyon where you can say thankyou or ask why they gave a bad review

chattymango Dec 28, 2017I think that sellers that are more active would benefit from some more or less "gentle" Codester housekeeping, that means for example finding out if authors are still interested to sell their stuff, or if they are still alive at all. I find it hard to believe that a software that hasn't been updated for over three years is still up-to-date regarding security and dependencies. I don't want to push authors, but people who have not been seen or not updated an item for 1 year could receive a friendly reminder and being asked to confirm that they are actually still interested (not only to get some bucks, but also to update, develop and reply to inquiries). Or they could receive a request to fix particular issues, like if on their item description page they forgot to replace the default placeholder. (Sometimes you seriously want to sell something and totally forget to look at it - these things happen ... apparently .) So, if they don't do that within 1 month, their item could be deactivated until they follow up.
This is of course a decision whether Codester should mainly offer a huge amount of items, or become the place to go when you search for code that is maintained and will actually solve your need, or to find some inspiration etc. No need to be extra-strict, but if even authors seem to have abandoned their items, I don't think that they can contribute a lot to a positive overall reputation of the marketplace. I don't see a benefit from dragging along "dead bodies" (not even for SEO). -
Good point on the OLD items on Codester. We do need to some housekeeping there. Also we have to see how we can motivate sellers to keep updating their items.
A reminder is a good start!
Comments on reviews is another good one.
We are not going allow authors to delete support questions as they are also used as evidence for refund requests.
If a support question gives false information you can report it and if this is the case, we will remove it.
Notification are also a good idea, but I dont think Push notifications are required.
We already picked up a few other great suggestions in this thread, but I am not able to comment on everything
Thanks again for all the suggestions!! -
ChewiScripts Dec 31, 2017With the About section would it be possible to make it HTML capable so i can make a list etc and also sort out the overflow feature where the word gets chopped off
https://www.codester.com/ChewiScripts/
for example:
[bold]Upcoming Scripts:[bold]
[list]
• Digital Sell Pro PHP Script ($24 - Double the features, Double the price) (2018)

ChewiScripts Jan 3, 2018Just thought of a new feature that i think would be very good and that's 2 Step Authentication?
Let me know what you think -
chattymango Jan 18, 2018I also keep thinking if it makes sense to offer support forever. Lengthy support conversations with some few customers (who often caused that problem themselves by not following the instructions, or another software caused a conflict) cost more than what you can ever earn with sales. Maybe we can limit the time (3 months?) and then they can buy an extension if needed. And it would be good to have an API for that, at least to check if the requester has bought that item and when.

ChewiScripts Jan 19, 2018YES I agree put the support back down to 6 or 12 months and then make them buy an extension when their time runs out but even if someone’s time runs out I will most likely help them anyway but it could be just another way to earn a bit more money
