I have been reading the posts on the forum, and what I see most is questions about sales which is very odd to me. As an author, especially if you code, you should know how to advertise your item outside of marketplaces. Don't just upload an item, wait for approval and think you will start getting sales. Nothing is that easy. Even if this marketplace had tons of traffic, some authors still wouldn't get sales. This is where marketing and advertising comes in!
A lot of times sellers will sign up, upload an item, and not do anything else. If you just signed up to upload an item and then see zero sales then you need to fix that problem.
How to fix the no sales problem? Follow the steps below!
Disclaimer:
Even though I only have 1 sale with staff can verify, which is fine by me because the niche I code for is a hard one to earn sales in, however I want to assist all those authors claiming that they are getting no sales. This is not to put Codester in a bad light, because their marketplace is remarkable, I love it. This is to spread awareness for those authors that are not having any sales luck here.
1. Be an affiliate, and an author. Believe me, your sales will increase if you promote Codester products. I promote marketplaces such as these and upload items and services to those marketplaces; I still get sales because of the traffic that I get on my own website by being an affiliate and promoting other's items. I get commission, and another author earns a sale. Win-win situation! Fun info: A lot of popular sellers on other marketplaces have tons of affiliates, did you know that? Don't believe go check for yourself!
2. Create a website for your work. If you do not have a website for your own work, this can create potential issues in regards to buyers being scared to purchase from you. Show them you mean business by having your own website. Do not use free websites (and yes im talking about freenom and other like sites) either, this can result in the buyer thinking negatively about you. Buy a real domain, the cost is fairly cheap at around $10 a year.
3. Create social media pages for yourself. Don't have any social pages? Too bad then, because buyers will most likely follow those pages if they bought your item. This could potentially earn you more sales from the SAME buyer! They can even contact you there if they need assistance, which is great when there is a lack of private communication features.
4. Search Engine Optimization (otherwise known as SEO). If your item is not SEO-optimized for the search engines, then buyers that are willing to purchase and are searching to buy something can not find your item. Do some keyword research, find the best keywords to use that represent your item. Gain some quality niche-based backlinks. When I mean quality niche-based backlinks, don't use generators or automators for backlinks if you already do SEO. Find some sites that allow you to add a link with some text, and create the links. But do not spam, that's bad. Quality over quantity especially for SEO.
5. Item images should be of some professional quality. If you have bad designed item images, or a stock photo from Google with text stating features, and are passing that by as your item image then don't expect sales. Why should a buyer order from you when you can't even show your item professionally? Professional item images can result in more sales.
6. Bad formatting on item descriptions. Do not use the text editor too much as it can be very displeasing to the eye, be subtle about it. Only use the text editor when it's actually needed.
